Bowen Gardens – park area | City of Boroondara

Bowen Gardens is suitable for small or intimate weddings, children’s play and small gatherings like picnics.

The gardens combine bright open spaces with areas shaded by large trees. The 2 playgrounds include slides and swings, as well as a ladder, fireman's pole, flying fox and balance beam.

Before you book
You can book a grass area in the park for your exclusive use.

We require at least 5 full business days notice.

You can apply to bring:
- up to 10 chairs and 2 tables for events
- a wedding arbour or chuppah (marquees are not permitted).

Public facilities

Playground

Public facilities are free for all park visitors to use. They are not included as part of a booking.

There are no public toilets at Bowen Gardens.

Parking and transport

Street parking is available on the nearby Athelstan Road and Bowen Street. The gardens are 1.5 km from Hartwell train station.

Booking times

7 days including public holidays.

April to October: 8 am to 6 pm.

November to March: 8 am to 8:30 pm.

Space	Fee
Alexandra Gardens, Canterbury Gardens, Surrey Gardens	$170 per hour (includes exclusive use of the rotunda). Commercial hire fee $1800.00 per day.
Central Gardens, Wallen Road Reserve and Maranoa Botanic Gardens	$170 per hour. Commercial hire fee $1800.00 per day.
All other parks and gardens	$170 per 4-hour block. Commercial hire fee $1800.00 per day.
Event bond	minimum $200
